An Update from Kailash Home
As you may already be aware, earlier this week several areas throughout central Nepal were hit by extensive flash flooding that has left incredible devastation in its wake. Our hearts are with those communities currently reeling from the tragic impacts of this disaster, especially those who have lost homes and loved ones, or are still awaiting news of missing family and friends.
We are eternally grateful that all of our Kailash Kids and staff are safe in residence on campus, and that the Kathmandu Valley area has not been directly affected by the flooding. Eleven of our current children and alumni students have families in the impacted areas, including Rasuwa and Gorkha. At this time three of our students are still waiting for news of parents and immediate family members as rescue efforts across the country are ongoing. Our team at Kailash is working hard to provide all of our students with the support they need in this tragic moment.
We continue to closely monitor the situation in coordination with our international partners and Kailash staff, and will share updates and ways to help as more information becomes available.
Today we ask our global community to send love and support from wherever you are in the world, especially to our Kailash Kids and Alumni.
